Natalie Bassingthwaighte announced as Australian Ambassador for Ultherapy®
– the non-surgical treatment that effectively treats skin laxity along the jawline & lower face, under the chin, on the neck, brow and décolletage using ultrasound technology.

Since its global launch in 2008, the non-invasive ultrasound device has changed the way clinicians treat skin laxity by using the body’s own regenerative response to gently and naturally stimulate collagen growth. Using ultrasound technology, Ultherapy enables doctors to see and then treat the deepest support layers of the skin – previously only addressed in cosmetic surgery – without the need to cut or even disrupt the surface of the skin. This technology is supported by more than 50 clinical studies, 60 peer reviewed, published papers and one million patient treatments worldwide and has understandably become a favourite in doctor’s clinics throughout Australia.

“Ultherapy® is frequently requested in my clinic because it’s non-invasive, stimulates collagen growth, and provides a very natural improvement in facial appearance. Not only does the treatment deliver these great benefits, it also requires little, to no downtime, allowing those treated with Ultherapy® to quickly get back to their everyday routines”.

Victorian Plastic Surgeon Dr Niamh Corduff.

It’s also been adopted as a treatment of choice by a number of celebrities around the world and Merz has just announced a partnership with Natalie Bassingthwaighte in Australia. “As an actress and entertainer, it’s important that the public sees me as my authentic self. It’s essential for me to be able to have facial expression but at the same time, I want to keep my skin looking smooth and vibrant as I age. Ultherapy enables me to do this, to take control over my ageing in a very natural way. Following my full face Ultherapy treatment, I felt an instant lift and a gentle tightening of my skin. I’m thrilled with the results and looking forward to the continued tightening and lifting effects developing over the next couple of months”.

According to Jeannine Hill, Managing Director of Merz Australia & New Zealand, “Global celebrities have long heralded the virtues of Ultherapy and we are very excited to be able to work with Natalie in Australia. Natalie shares our vision that adults of all ages should be able to face their futures with confidence, knowing that they look as good on the outside as they feel on the inside”.

How it works

Unlike lasers and radio-frequency which penetrate the skin from the outside-in, Ultherapy® works from the inside-out, to lift and tighten skin non-invasively. Ultherapy® bypasses the surface of the skin, delivering focused ultrasound energy at depths of up to 4.5mm, which is the same foundational layer typically addressed in a surgical facelift.

The skin’s response to this energy is to stimulate the growth of fresh, new collagen and elastin. Results reveal a lifting, tightening and firming of the skin over 2-3 months, back to a more youthful and form-fitting position. Further improvements can appear for up to six months following a single procedure as the collagen and elastin network strengthens. With just one Ultherapy® treatment, the lifting process is initiated. The attractive aspect of this treatment is that the effect will build gradually as new, stronger collagen and elastin connections are created. It is a natural procedure insofar as it is based on the skin’s own healing processes and doesn’t require the use of chemicals or injections and there is no downtime. And as the results are gradual (and skin is left undisturbed), there is no sudden change that requires explanation to workmates, friends and family.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte: “For me, the immediate after effect was really fresh, tight and smooth skin. The result on the skin’s surface was great and I noticed an immediate lift, but Ultherapy works so much deeper than the skin’s surface to give natural results that get better with time.”

The treatment typically takes around 90 minutes – making it the perfect lunch time treatment. Afterward, patients are able to return to normal activities immediately, with no special measures required to be undertaken, since the skin itself is not disturbed. Dr Tom Parmakellis, founder of Lookfresh Cosmetic Medicine in Sydney stated, “I have never been able to give my patients an effective, natural lift of the lower face with the tools at my disposal, until now. Ulthera solves those problems. Not only has it been shown clinically to be safe and effective, in trials, I have seen the results first hand in my patients. Up until now the only other option for patients was surgery. I love Ulthera’s natural and gradual improvement that occurs over a 3-6 month period after a single treatment, and best of all, no downtime”.

The ideal candidates

While the results do not duplicate those of surgery, Ultherapy’s® gradual improvements make it a compelling option for people who have mild to moderate sagging of skin on the face, loose neck skin and wrinkles on the chest / décolletage. This procedure is ideal for women and men who wish to maintain a natural degree of firmness in their jawline and neck and to minimise wrinkles and lines in their brow, around their lips and in the décolletage region. Ultherapy works very effectively in combination with other treatments like lasers, anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.

Suitable as well for those in their early to mid thirties who want to maintain their current youthful appearance as it will help to delay the ageing process by maintaining high levels of collagen and elastin in the skin. For those who have already undertaken surgical options, Ultherapy® works beautifully in conjunction, to help prolong the effects.

Procedural Improvements

The Ultherapy® procedure was recently updated and now delivers less energy during the treatment but still achieves the exact same results. What does this mean? It means Ultherapy is now a much more comfortable option for a wider range of patients.

Dr Ingrid Tall, Cosmetic Image Clinics. “Ultherapy fills the gap between our surgical and non-surgical clients at Cosmetic Image Clinics for treating sagging jowls and chins and for rejuvenating necks. This common problem can now be improved with a non-invasive, no downtime, 1-2 hour simple procedure. It is great to use in combination with our other treatment modalities and brings new clients to our practice. I’ve tried it on myself and love the results.”

Authenticity

Be sure you get the real Ultherapy treatment. As the Ulthera treatment increases in popularity, we are seeing more counterfeits and copy products coming onto the market, especially from China and Korea. Ensuring patients get the authentic treatment they want and are paying for is of utmost importance at Merz according to Jeannine Hill. “Fake machines and copy-type products typically aren’t developed based on extensive scientific research. Therefore there is little to no data to substantiate the safety and effectiveness of copy treatments. Only authentic Ulthera medical clinics are listed on the clinic finder as part of the Ultherapy website”. Alternatively, you can contact Merz directly to ensure the clinic you plan to see is delivering an authentic Ultherapy treatment.
